Going into the Pirelli World Challenge weekend at Barber Motorsports Park, CRP Racing was very excited about the potential for our Hawk Performance Audi R8 LMS Ultra. We now had a bit of experience under our belt and were getting more comfortable setting up the car. Practice went very well and the car was constantly improving.

During our qualifying session, we had the provisional pole for about two-thirds of the session, but were beaten out by two Ferraris at the end to put us P3. We were still pretty content with that and were looking forward to seeing the podium during the weekend. Unfortunately, a glitch on Saturday’s start kept our car from going into second gear and we lost acceleration for nearly 4 seconds, which put us well back in the pack. Although we managed to sacrifice a 6th place finish, we only managed the 9th fastest lap, which set us up for a long day on Sunday.  Fortunately, we got a clean start in Race 2, making up several positions early.  Look for the video here:

It was quite a battle and we had good pace, but we still felt disappointed to come out of Barber without a podium.  Be sure to check out the image gallery from Ed Crowder of Passion Moves Photography and follow along for future updates on Instagram @thegingerstig, Twitter @MikeSkeenRacing, and Facebook.
